Kenya Croton Shell Biochar Agricultural Renewal Project
2026-08-19
Project Background & Market Orientation
Kenya’s extensive croton plantations produce massive hard-shell croton shell residues every year. These residues are hard to degrade, and random stacking occupies farmland, breeds pests, and wastes organic resources. Long-term excessive chemical fertilization has caused severe soil hardening and fertility decline locally.
Against the local promotion of green circular agriculture, high-performance agricultural biochar is in urgent demand for soil remediation. This project converts croton shell waste into functional biochar, focusing on farmland ecological restoration and yield improvement.
Core On-Site Difficulties
Seasonal croton shell materials feature unstable moisture and texture, requiring high equipment adaptability. Agricultural biochar demands precise carbonization control to guarantee soil improvement activity. Meanwhile, the project needs to balance agricultural usage and commercial sales for stable profits.
Customized Technical Solution
A high-adaptability double-layer differential temperature carbonization production line is adopted for the project. The unique double-layer structure solves the problem of incomplete carbonization or excessive burning caused by raw material fluctuation. The equipment supports precise adjustment of carbonization temperature and residence time, which can stably control biochar volatile content within the optimal agricultural application range of 10%-25%. The produced biochar has developed pore structure, strong adsorption capacity, and can effectively retain soil water, fertilizer and microbial activity.
Project Operation Benefits
The project completely solves the disposal dilemma of characteristic agricultural waste in Kenyan croton plantations. The functional biochar products are widely used in local farmland renovation and economic crop planting, significantly improving soil structure, increasing soil organic content, and effectively raising crop yield and quality. The project promotes the local circular agriculture model of “planting waste-soil improvement-high yield planting”, bringing long-term ecological benefits and stable agricultural economic income for customers.
