Malaysia EFB Pellet Pyrolysis Project Case
2026-08-19
Malaysia EFB Pellet Pyrolysis Project Case
Project Background
Malaysia’s palm‑oil industry generates massive amounts of empty fruit bunch (EFB), a typical category‑E biomass feedstock. Traditionally, EFB pellets were mostly used for direct combustion for power generation, which fails to unlock higher commercial value. To upgrade local biomass industrial chains, one Malaysian enterprise selected Zhengzhou Dingli’s continuous drum pyrolysis system to build a complete EFB pellet carbonization plant.
Feedstock & Equipment Configuration
Raw material: Compressed EFB biomass pellets
Feed requirements: Moisture below 15%, particle size ≤30 mm
Core equipment: Continuous drum‑type thermal pyrolysis unit, multi‑fuel preheating burner, combustible gas purification system, feeding conveyor, cooling‑discharge assembly and full‑set electric control cabinet.
Pyrolysis performance: Carbonization depth adjustable; finished biochar volatile‑matter residue controllable within 10‑25%. The combustible gas released during thermal pyrolysis is recycled as internal heat source to cut external fuel consumption.
Final Products & Application
High‑quality EFB biochar produced from thermal pyrolysis has multiple market outlets. A large portion serves as biochar soil conditioner and agricultural biochar fertilizer for local oil‑palm orchard soil improvement. Another fraction acts as raw material for activated carbon manufacturing, and partial output is further processed into commercial BBQ charcoal for regional sales.
Project Highlights
This turn‑key pyrolysis project is one of Dingli’s operating reference sites in Southeast Asia. Supported by on‑site installation guidance and after‑sales technical service, the production line runs stably year‑round. It converts low‑value palm industry by‑products into high‑added‑value carbon goods, bringing considerable new revenue for the customer. Meanwhile, it realizes solid‑waste recycling for palm‑oil factories and advances local circular biomass economy.
