Application of Pyrolysis Technology in Municipal Solid Waste Treatment

Municipal solid waste contains a significant proportion of combustible components such as paper, plastics, and synthetic fibers. Through pyrolysis, these components can be effectively converted into fuel oil and fuel gas, thus achieving resource recovery. The high combustible content of municipal solid waste makes pyrolysis an effective way to convert it into fuel oil and gas, providing a resource recovery pathway.
In recent years, a new trend has emerged in the field of solid waste pyrolysis abroad: the co-pyrolysis of municipal solid waste and industrial waste containing combustible components with sludge. This co-pyrolysis method not only recovers heat energy more effectively but also has the following significant advantages:

Useful inorganic substances in solid waste can be directly recovered, while the heat released by organic matter is also fully utilized.
The exhaust gas after multi-stage purification, and the wastewater after conventional treatment, can both meet environmental emission standards.
The trace elements in the residue, after appropriate treatment, can be landfilled, occupying only 20-30% of the land area of traditional landfill methods, greatly reducing pretreatment requirements.
Co-pyrolysis can more effectively recover heat energy, reduce landfill requirements, and represents the mainstream direction for future sludge treatment.
