What is the difference between pyrolysis and pyrolysis?
2024-11-13
The main differences between pyrolysis and cracking are reaction conditions, reaction principles, generated substances and applications.
Pyrolysis refers to heating organic matter in a reducing gas atmosphere to destroy the high molecular bonding state of organic matter. Cracking, on the other hand, is to increase the molecular energy by heating to meet the energy required for chemical bond breaking, thereby decomposing into other substances. The following are the main differences between the two:
1. Different reaction conditions: The reaction conditions of pyrolysis are oxygen-deficient or oxygen-free. The reaction conditions of cracking are oxygen-containing or oxygen-rich.
2. Different reaction principles: The reaction principle of pyrolysis is decomposition reaction. It needs to absorb a lot of heat. The reaction principle of cracking is oxidation-reduction reaction. It will release a lot of heat.
3. Different generated substances: The generated substances after pyrolysis of organic matter are combustion gas mixtures, tar and coke, etc. The generated substances after cracking of organic matter are generally carbon dioxide, water and fly ash, etc.
4. Different applications: Pyrolysis is mainly used in petroleum cracking. When petroleum hydrocarbons are pyrolyzed, in addition to obtaining low molecular weight olefins, there are also products with a larger molecular weight than the raw material, such as tar, due to side reactions such as polymerization and condensation. Cracking is to increase the energy of molecules by heating, so as to meet the energy required for breaking chemical bonds, thereby decomposing them into other substances.
