 At present, there are three main methods for recycling plastic waste:

1. Physical recycling: Physical recycling means that the waste plastic is directly processed and utilized after cleaning and crushing without destroying the polymer structure of the plastic. This method is simple and easy to implement, but the plastics produced are usually of poor quality, and the performance of the plastics will be greatly reduced after multiple physical recycling, and its application is greatly limited.

2. Chemical recycling: Chemical recycling is to convert the polymer carbon chain in the plastic into small molecules for the production of fuel, chemical products, etc. This method can realize the closed cycle of plastic "coming from oil and returning to oil", with higher resource utilization efficiency and environmental benefits. The main technologies of chemical recycling include thermal cracking, catalytic cracking, etc.
 
3. Incineration power generation; Incineration power generation is to incinerate waste plastics with other garbage and use the heat energy generated by incineration to generate electricity or heat. This method can process a large amount of waste plastics and recover the heat energy resources therein. However, harmful gases and particulate matter will be generated during the incineration process, causing pollution to the atmospheric environment. Therefore, incineration power generation needs to be equipped with a complete flue gas purification system to ensure that emissions meet standards.
 
Among them, the technology of chemical recycling of plastic waste has many advantages, including simple operation technology, low production cost and good economy, but the melting and regeneration of plastic waste has high requirements for the composition and classification of plastic waste. The method of converting plastic waste into pyrolysis carbon black and pyrolysis oil and gas by pyrolysis can solve the problem of direct combustion producing toxic gas environmental pollution, and can also provide energy and alleviate the problem of energy shortage.
 
Plastic waste pyrolysis technology is mainly divided into three categories: thermal cracking, catalytic cracking and hydrocracking. Among them, thermal cracking technology is the most concerned by industry insiders and is the current research direction. The products of plastic waste pyrolysis are mainly pyrolysis oil, combustible gas and solid carbon black. The pyrolysis oil in the product can be refined into gasoline and diesel required in life through distillation, purification and other processes. The combustible gas can be used directly as fuel after treatment. The solid carbon black can be used as activated carbon after fine processing, which has a high utilization value. Efficient recycling of plastic waste is a very valuable research topic in the current plastic waste recycling and reuse technology.
